Lia Update!

So today we went on the first horseback ride of the year (Jake and Dad have gone a few times but that's no surprise)! I was SO NERVOUS! I hate what a nervous wreck/worrywart I am. I rode Shade, Memrie rode Lightning (same temperament as Shade but he's taller), Dad C. rode Spur (worst horse ever), Tyson rode Buck, and Jake rode Diego! It was SO fun! All the horses did such a good job! Spur was psycho but none of the other horses followed him. Not one scary thing happened and that's what I like. Normally Shade is everyone's least favorite horse to ride because she walks soooo slow and then trots to catch up and to make her walk the same pace as everyone else is always a fight. But today, by some miracle, she did amazing. Also Shade is normally hard to catch. She's just a mean old mare who runs away but today I walked right up to her and caught her without a problem! I was so happy!

The bad news is that I didn't bring a camera. Boo.

After the ride I got Lia (kind of a big step for me. Jake is always with me when I catch her and lead her around out of her coral but lately I can do it all by my big self!) and I saddled her up and then Jake brought Josh and Zsahnae's kids out and they each took turns riding her!

DO YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME THAT IS?

Pretty awesome. So Stoker went first and he was fearless. So brave.

Then Jethro got on. He was nervous at first but warmed right up.

After Jethro Livy got on. She was so brave, too.

Then Ziah got on. Ziah is four!! She was so cute just beaming up there.

Lia did amazing. Like... Seriously. All those kids were running around her that whole time and the kid on top of her always was moving around and yelling at everyone else and crazy stuff like that but Lia totally kept her cool. Never twitched or jumped or pulled against the rope or jerked her head or anything. That's amazing.

Then I got on and Jake stopped leading with the rope and I lead her around with the reigns! She got the hang of it immediately! Which is even more impressive because before me the four kids were pulling on the reigns pretty randomly.

I can't believe how lucky I am to have Lia! I love her so much! She is the perfect first horse to train.

Feeding the Horses!

When Ma and Pa Cromwell have their temple shift in the morning, Jake and I feed the horses. This means me getting a fun ride on the four wheeler and Jake feeding the horses. :)

We start with Shade and Tana, I call them the mean ol mares. "You mean old mares! Here's yo food!"

Then we move to "the boys." The geldings technically. "Here ya go boys!" They are always super duper excited to eat.

Then the girls Sierra and Fury. Sierra is Fury's mom. They're pretty mean too. But I'm scared of them so I just call them the girls. ;)

Then my personal faves- Lia and Diamond. These two are little buddies and Diamond better hang in there for many more years because I'm scared that Lia will turn into a mean depressed horse when he dies. They're pretty much BFF's. Lia always looks at us like "play with me!! Ignore the snow and rain and PLAY WITH ME!!!" Then we pet her and then we drive away and THEN she goes over to her food. It's adorable.

I love living with horses so much!!

Lia's Second Rider!

McKenna, my darling niece, is SO brave! She got on Lia and Jake led them all around the yard. They both did awesome. Lia was so calm the whole time and McKenna was so brave. I was a complete nervous wreck... But Jake was in charge and he wasn't nervous haha.
I can't believe what a good horse Lia is. Jake said that compared to the other horses he's trained Lia is the most calm. She just follows the leader (Jake or me) and trusts us and stays calm. She spooks but she doesn't freak out and pull away, she just stays really close to you and acts all nervous. That's his words haha. She is such a good horse. We are so lucky! I plan on her living until she's fourty! Haha.... not kidding.

Lia's Easter!

"Hey Lia thanks for being such a good girl."

Here's your Easter basket!

You have your own brush now.

And a soft bristle brush, because Diamond's is so gross.

And here's a mane brush so that your tail and mane stay nice.

This hooks to a hose for when we give you a bath.

This is a sponge for when we give you a bath.

Here's a horse hair detangler that we had to get because your tail got sticky crap in it and we couldn't get it out....

And here's a shampoo for when we give you a bath that will make your hair shiny and clean.

Happy Easter!

Hoppy Easter Part 2

Jake is amazing and he did an Easter surprise for me! I got home from work on Monday (which was a crazy day. It involved the chiropractor, dermatologist, and taxes.) to all this-

He's so sweet and funny.

Giant Mole

WARNING:GROSS PICTURES

So I've had this mole on my head for forever but it was always a tiny white bubble. In the last four months it has quadrupled in size, at least, and a brown ring appeared around it.

So I went to the dermatologist and he was fascinated by it, hahaha. Gross. He chopped it off right then and there and said that he'd know by Wednesday if he needs me to come back in to dig it out deeper.

Doesn't it look like a cigarette burn?

Hoppy Easter 2012!

First of all, this is my first Easter away from my family and it's such a bummer! I've never done an Easter without all the fun traditions because I have little siblings! It was a LAME-O day. But while I was getting ready for church Jake made us german pancakes! Super yum!! Church was good. We weren't in the library because the Walkers (who we are replacing because they are serving a church history mission) are home fore two weeks so that sister Walker can have knee surgery... Youch! So I was in Relief society. On the way home from church there was a guy on the side of the road with a big ol truck and I have no idea what was wrong with it but Jake and I pulled over and Jake helped them cause he has all sorts of cool tools and it was real fast. The guys had been there since this morning when we went to church. That's a long time so it was good that Jake could help them. We got home and ate and then watched the Work and Glory movies and just chilled.

All day I kept thinking what homework do I have?? But I don't have any!! Woot woot woot!!!! I wish I could show off my mad memorization skills on here because I memorized the entire The Family: A Proclamation to the World for one of my classes! You all should REALLY read it and think about it, not just kind of read it. It's an inspired document with a lot of really cool things in it.

Jake and I made blueberry muffins and put these cute doodads in them (from my momsy, of course!) The muffins looks gross but REALLY they were delicious.

A picture of the german pancakes-

Jake and I on Easter Sunday (really bad picture of me... and it's upside down??)-

Lia on Easter Sunday.....

She saw me and it scared her and she went from this-

To this-

In .000000000000005 seconds I swear! It was so funny! I totally freaked her out. Then she totally relaxed and walked right over to me. Jake was busting up.

Here's our Easter gift to ourselves

It's awesome it has pictures throughout it and it has word helps, closer looks, deeper understandings from modern prophets, and thinks to ponder. I love it! They're pricey so maybe next Easter we'll buy the Old Testament one and the next year we'll buy the New Testament one... :)

So I just said to Jake, "I'm in a blogging funk. And he said, "A funk? What is that, like a rut?" HAHAHAHA yes. Yes it is. :)
