The nicest lady in my parents ward, Sister Bluth, threw me a bridal shower! I just love the Bluths. Brother Bluth (now Elder Bluth...) was my seminary teacher my senior year in Baton Rouge and I really love him. He got me through my senior year and he doesn't even know it! He is also my family's home teacher and he is just awesome. It was so sweet of Sister Bluth to throw this for me. It was all so so cute. They had crepes with chicken and broccoli and gravy which I had never had before but it was delicious!! Then they also had a yummy salad and for dessert they had crepes with ice cream and different toppings. It was all so good and cute! She had cookies that were heart shaped and said 'time for love.' It was a time shower, which I think is so clever. Each invite assigned each person a different "time" like some people had time to clean and organize, or time for bed and relaxing, time for fun, time for cooking, etc. It was so creative and cute!! She also had the cutest sign that said 'jake and rachel.' She had a few of our engagement pictures framed around the room. We played a game with kitchen utensils and they each had a question about Jake on them and if I answered right then I got to keep the utensil. My mom had emailed him to get his answers and I had to answer the same as him. It was so fun and cute! Then we opened gifts. Everyone was very very generous and sweet and creative and funny. It was such a fun night. I'm so lucky to know the great people here in Louisiana. I'm definitely sad to leave them!
Here are some pictures from the shower!
I look random in both of these pictures but you get the idea of the game we played!
I'm sad this picture is blurry cause I think it's so cute! All three of us are laughing at something and you can see how sweet and happy Sister Bluth is from her huge smile :)
Here are the ladies that came! In the top picture we have (left to right) Sister Melanie Abel, Sister Tate and her little redheaded baby, Sister Easley, Sister Riggs, Sister Throckmorton and her grandson, and Sister Sharp. In the picture below from left to right there's Sister Nelson, Sister Abel, Sister Courtney Richardson (having her baby right after I get married!), Sister Sanders, Sister Hughes, Sister Dubates, Laura, and Kaeli. Laura and Kaeli, standing in the back, were both in young womens with me. Laura is at BYU and Kaeli is at LSU. Not pictured are Sari, Jenna, and Allison. (Jenna and Allison are two of the young women in our ward who are Sari's age.)
Here are the questions they asked in the game because they were fun to think about and fun to answer. :)
1. What did you do on your first date?
-Jake gave me a tour of campus and then took me out to dinner at Craigos!
2. What personality trait will Jake say he most admires about Rachel? What personality trait will Rachel say she most admires in Jake?
-I got this "wrong" I said that I most admire how positive and happy Jake is all of the time. He said I would say his duck voice! I do love when he does his duck voice but that's not a personality trait. ;) For my personality I really had no idea but I guessed he would say people pleaser cause he always says that about me. But he said that I love kids and want to be a stay at home mom.
3. What does Jake say is the most romantic thing he has ever done for Rachel?
4. What country would Jake most like to visit?
- St. Lucia, in the Caribbean, where he served his mission.
5. What is your favorite activity to do together?
-I got this "wrong" too... I said snowmobiling, four wheeling, horseback riding, going on walks, playing card games, swimming, there are SO many things we do. He said just being together and cuddling... So cute haha. :)
6. What was Jake's favorite game when he was a young child?
-Cowboys and indians while riding his horses with his little brothers
7. How does Jake like his eggs cooked?
-I said however I decide to cook them! He said however, a variety is good. haha
8. What is Jake's favorite meal? What will Jake say is Rachel's favorite meal?
-I totally got Jake's favorite way wrong. I don't even know what I guessed... Cause he will seriously eat ANYTHING, it's great. But his answer was Hawaiian haystacks. For me he said spaghetti. Spaghetti is one of my favorites.
9. What was the first movie y'all watched together?
-First of all I laughed when I saw that the question said "y'all" even though I know I say it sometimes. I could not remember to save my LIFE. The first movie we saw in the theatre was Inception. But he was right, he said Phantom of the Opera. We watched that in the lobby with my roommates like the second week we even knew each other!
It was a really fun night! Thank you for everything, Sister Bluth!
