We closed on the house April 12! We have had a lot of fun with Dane and Shalina, making plans and shopping around. Jake, Dane, and Shalina put in a full day's work on Saturday (I worked at Carlisle's all day). Here are all the before pictures of our "Flipping House!"By the way, they are completely unorganized.
In the kitchen we are replacing the floors, light fixture, sink, and doing a cabinet and counter restore
Terrible
We are expanding the kitchen floor to here where the table sits, rather than keeping carpet. And we have to do something about the ancient AC
Upstairs family room, connected to the picture above. We are replacing the popcorn ceiling and the carpet and, like everywhere in the house, repainting. The windows in the pictures up til now are not being replaced.
Upstairs bathroom. New floors, counter restore, and light fixtures. Also new wall paint. Oh and a new door.
The upstairs. We are replacing the flower pot thing by the stairs with a railing.
Bedroom #1 upstairs, new paint, new door, new carpet, new window, new ceiling.
Upstairs bedroom #2, same as bedroom #1
Upstairs hall closet between the two bedrooms. I think just a new door.
Going downstairs... New stairs carpet.
Blurry front door. Probably just paint it white. New locks and handles. The garage door is at the bottom of the stairs on the left, just painting it.
Another going down, putting up a railing, new paint, new carpet.
The main family room on the main floor. New paint, windows, and carpet. Luckily the popcorn ceiling was only upstairs. The doors you see go to the sun room.
Sun room doors. Depending on the budget towards the end we will replace or paint the doors.
Door that leads to backyard and a closet
Sunroom. New window, just the one, and getting rid of that counter thing and getting new floors.
Cleaning these windows.
Will possibly replace these doors.
Going into the house, from the sunroom.
Sunroom looking to backyard.
Going to the basement
New window, paint, and carpet. Also we're replacing all those base heaters with wall cadets.
Adding class to the cabinet doors and possibly painting the rock.
Going to the bedroom downstairs...
Replace with wall cadet, new paint, new window
This is the laundry room, in the basement, we already ripped out those cabinets and the walls and are going to paint and just add shelves.
Also, new floors
Hallway to the master, utility closet on the right, hall closet on the left
we're making this frame bigger and adding a regular door.
Back to the small basement bedroom. New paint
Wall cadet
Just new paint and cleaning in this bathroom
Basement hall closet, I don't think we are doing anything at all in here
Hall closet in basement, doing nothing
Master. That TV holder is being ripped out, new door
Laundry room floor, being replaced
Walking into master...
That wall divides the room from the closet. It cuts the room in half so there's a huge closet and a so/so sized room. We are pushing the wall back like 5 feet I think... To the middle of the window you see, right now the window looks into the closet.
One side of the closet
Same side, dif angle
Other side of the closet. Right now its not a walk through, there is a dividing wall that we are taking down
The wall to the right is coming down and the other wall is being pushed back
Still the giant closet, its a mess right now
Master, how weird about the window looking in the bathroom, right?? By the way, the two bedroom windows are being replaced, not the one above the tub.
Garage, a real hot mess.
I don't even know what all we have to do in here, Jake and Dane are figuring it out
Backyard, the door to the house is where the photographer (my hubby) is standing, the doors to the sunroom are to the right
Just new siding and at the end we'll decide if we can stain the deck or not
Backyard
Side yard
Adding another wood piece so kids can't fall off
Dane will re sod the backyard
Dog house is going, bye bye
There are two sheds, the front one, to the left, is being ripped down. That window is the family room window. It will be better with just the shed off to the right.
We'll just extend the fence to the house.
inside the shed... I don't know what I justadded down below... oops
Front of house
Shed that is going
Hate that the front door is down that skinny hallway, creepy
Front of house.
That is Jake's car in Dane and Shalina's driveway, literally next door
Re sodding the front yard in some places
Progress so far, on Saturday Dane and Jake took off all the popcorn ceilingThey also ripped out everything in the laundry room so we can texture and paint and add a light fixture and shelves!
That's it for now! More updates to come!

So much to say!
Let's just title this "My Flippin' 2 Cents".
First of all, I can see Jake totally LOVING this project!
1 - what kind of cabinet and counter restore in the kitchen?
2 - that is super icky carpet and continuing the kitchen floor into that room should have happened in the first place!
3 - Popcorn ceiling - huge pain - huge payoff to scrape that crap off. Hopefully it isn't too committed to its life and will willingly and joyfully plunge to it's soggy death.
4 - I wonder if it would be much more to do all the bathroom floors the same? It might only be a few hours and less than $100 but it adds a lot of "someone cared" factor.
5-Are you SURE that you don't want to keep the flower pot? Hahaha! Grandma and Grandpa Sant have a taller one just inside their front door and so did my Grandma and Grandpa Harding in their SLC house, which you would not remember because you were a wee babe when they moved to Willard.
6 - Are you painting all the trims white? I love a crisp white trim. Makes the rooms seem bigger. What paint color are you using for all the rooms? I assume they will all be the same nice neutral?
7 - What kind of closet doors are you putting on?
8 - Paint the inside of the closet in the hall! It will just take an hour and believe me, it will be worth it. Again, it's the someone cares and this was done properly factor.
9 - Google black front doors. I don't know if it would work in this house, but I have been in love with them for some time. With white trim - BAM!
10 - Please tell me that the carpet is Wedding Singer teal!
11- If the doors to the sunroom (it doesn't look very sunny?) are in good shape, I would just paint them. I think that's a low cost return. I think the same thing for the hall closet door upstairs.
12 - Just making all the doors and trim and woodwork (cheap wood) in the house white is going to do wonders!
13 - DO NOT PAINT THE ROCK! Tear it down, take it out, or leave it, but PLEASE! I have NEVER seen painted rock come out okay. I am a child of the 70s and I have seen a lot of rock and a lot of attempts to "fix" the rock by painting. Please. Do not.
14 - What is with that plywood door? What the heck? Just really makes you wonder what some people were smoking. Weird. And ugly. And cripcrap.
15 - Are you going to paint the wood paneling and shutters in the basement bedroom?
16 - Wow. That my friends, is a joist. Or a beam. Or whatever they call it. Wow.
17 - That wall that divides everything is a Don Aslet idea from how to clean everything. He recommends these kind of rooms and even built his whole house this way because that way you don't have closets filling up with junk. Google him. He is the original clean and organizing master and is from Idaho.
18 - Are you keeping the ceiling fans? The window from the bathroom into the room is a little ... weird? Because there is a door right next to it ...
19 - Find me a garage that is not a hot mess. Other than yours and Jakes. (cough ocd cough cough)
20 - The upper deck railing is just crazy cripcrap. Scary!
21 - Bye bye doggy house. Bye bye.
22 - Bye bye icky shed. I am little confused about the sheds....
23 - I picture some planters with bright annuals spilling out of either side of the garage door!
24 - Okay... that is a skinny, creepy, weird hallway to the front door. Here is a question - can you guys extend the roof from the garage so that it is completely covered? That might make it more ... covered. Lol. It's already have covered, just finish it up so it's protected from the rain and snow and bugs and leaves and wind. Then can you run a couple of lights like the porch light across the side so that it is a well lit walk way? Also that way that gutter thing won't be over head. Walking under that feels like walking under a ladder which has got to be a bunch of bad luck. And definitely extend that concrete step over to the wall.
25 - It looks great! I am super impressed that they popcorn ceiling is already down! The laundrey room already looks better!
26 - Why faux wood paneling? Why?
That's 26 cents! It even made me post it in two comments!
I love you guys. Mwah!
